The Punch Bowl is located in the village of Lower Bentham which sits facing the River Wenning on the borders of Lancashire, Cumbria and North Yorkshire. It is nestled between two National Parks and a National Landscape: The Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales and the Forest of Bowland respectively. The area is popular with walkers, cyclists and tourists, and there are many holiday parks in the close vicinity. The village has a population of around 2,000 and comprises a mixture of farms and residences dating back to at least the Black Death, as on the road to High Bentham are plague stones which were used during that time as an alternative to markets. Lower Bentham lies off the A687 which links to Lancaster and the M6 to the west and Skipton to the east.
