The surrounding area is predominantly rural in nature and the site is situated in close proximity to Fearns Farm, to the north, and Northfield Farm, to the west. To the south are a series of detached dwellings and directly to the west are a pair of modern semi-detached dwellings. Access to the subject property is provided via a gravel driveway directly to the north of these dwellings.
