Greengairs is a small village located in North Lanarkshire and in close proximity to the larger town of Airdrie. The village benefits from local amenities with larger facilities found in Airdrie, approx. 3 miles south west and Cumbernauld approx. 3 miles northwest. The village provides a rural setting but also benefits from excellent road links to the surrounding Central Scotland motorway network.

The site itself is situated on the southern side of Greengairs Road, the main street through the village and opposite its junction with Rankin Crescent. The village has undergone some re- development latterly with further residential expansion on going to the north of the subjects.


Description


The subjects comprise a former post office located on a larger site of tarmacadam to the front and vegetation to the rear. The site is generally level with a small dip to the rear of the existing building and is bounded to the east by timber fencing. The remaining site boundaries will require to be defined on site. While the former post office building remains on site this will require to be demolished prior to the erection of any new development. Historic plans had been drawn up for the erection of 6 detached dwellings over the site however, this application was withdrawn prior to obtaining any comment/consent.
