Property description
The Bar Rorkes (formerly the Rorkes Drift and the Wheatsheaf) is one of the town’s most central properties being a Georgian building Grade II listed and dating back to the 17th Century.
The town is also the home of the Royal Welsh Regiment where their Museum is located therein. This facility also attracts many visitors and houses therein a total of 18 Victoria Cross Medals including some awarded at the famous South African Battle of Rorkes Drift during the Anglo Zulu War from which the pub took its name. The event immortalised in the 1964 film Zulu directed by Cy Enfield.
Our clients acquired the business in 2010, prior to which it had been owned by a Pub Company. A major refurbishment programme was undertaken in 2014 and the business has been rented to a third party tenant since 2016. These tenants have now vacated the property and it is being sold or let with full vacant possession.
