The architectural designer and TV presenter Charlie Luxton caught up with us at the recent Homebuilding and Renovating Show to explain what you should look for in an architect.

  • “The crucial thing is to look on the RIBA website and find local projects that align with your agenda” Charlie says.

“Find someone who designs the way you want them to, go and meet them and make sure you get on with them.

“A decent project will take two or three years so it’s really nice if you like those people. Go and see the houses they've built and meet some of the clients they've worked with.

“If a picture says a thousands words, a space says a million. Standing in a space someone has built with a client can tell you more things than looking at pretty pictures on a website.”
