The Isle of Dogs is a horseshoe-shaped peninsula, due south of Poplar, surrounded on three sides by the River Thames. It is part of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets and has four main areas: Blackwall, Cubitt Town, Millwall and Canary Wharf, which has the tallest habitable building in Britain, at 244m (800 feet) high.

Much investment has gone into local primary schools including Harbinger, Arnhem Wharf, and Cubitt Town; and secondary schools such as George Green.
