Although shopping in Blackfriars is limited, the excellent transport links ensure that you are no more than half an hour away from almost everywhere in London, including Covent Garden. Another good place to visit is Gabriel's Wharf, an attractive group of craft shops, boutiques and cafés, which is just over the river from Blackfriars on the South Bank; this pleasant square is formed by the backs of warehouses painted to resemble house-fronts. While south of the river you could watch a play at Shakespeare’s Globe or visit Tate Modern.

The station in Blackfriars provides access to the District and Circle lines and there is also a train service out to Kent. City Thameslink services run from nearby Ludgate Circus and to the west of Blackfriars Bridge there is a riverboat landing jetty.
