Somerton Randle is an exceptional Grade II listed Georgian Country House protected by its own grounds. The house and all the ancillary accommodation have been extensively and sympathetically refurbished in the last decade, preserving and in some cases restoring the period features. The main entrance is through electric gates from Lodge Hill (B3151) passing the Lodge Cottage the drive winds through the woodland gardens towards the front of the house.

Somerton Randle is situated on the edge of Somerton which has a good range of local shops and services including butchers, a baker, beauticians, a health food shop, florist, small super market, dentist, surgery and a number of pubs. The larger centres of Sherborne and Wells are within 15 miles and provide a comprehensive range of services. There is a main line train station at Castle Cary (about 10 miles) with trains to London Paddington (1hr 50 mins). Trains also travel from Yeovil to London Waterloo (2 hrs 30 mins). The A303 is two miles south of Somerton and links to the M3 providing access to London by road (125 miles). Bristol and Bath are 35 miles by road.

The Outbuildings and Farm Buildings
The traditional buildings built of Blue Lias Stone form three sides of a square and adjoin Clock Tower Cottage. They include; two garages with roller doors, a further open fronted four bay garage, stables, workshops and a swimming pool room. A former hay loft, currently used as a games room, is accessed by a spiral staircase from one of the stables and may be suitable for conversion to an office subject to the required permissions. Separate and adjacent to the courtyard are three stables with a concrete apron.
Further down the back drive are two modern farm building (23m x 20m) constructed of steel frame and part block walling with sliding double doors. Adjacent to the building are grain bins with storage for about 650 tonnes.

Gardens and Grounds
The gardens and grounds of Somerton Randle are an important feature and include wide lawns and herbaceous borders, mature specimen trees, a vegetable garden, greenhouse, hot house and a swimming pool and tennis court. The terraced lawns to the south of the house are divided by hoggin paths. To the north of the house lawns stretch to an attractive two acre lake; its banks are planted with reeds and irises and further back from the water there are mature trees and shrubs. The lake has been stocked with grass carp which help to aerate and clean the water. The courtyard garden is positioned between the main house and the coach house; surrounded by buildings on three sides it is sheltered from the elements and planted with box hedge and herbaceous borders. A path behind the house leads through a tunnel under the road to a 'secret' walled garden.
The drive from Lodge Hill continues past the main house, through the clock tower arch and courtyard behind and on to the farm buildings, beyond which there is a separate access onto Hush Road.
The Farmland
As well as the gardens and grounds there are about 70 acres of arable land and paddocks and 2 acres of woodland running down to the natural southern boundary formed by the River Cary. The arable land has recently been growing wheat spring beans and oil seed rape and is currently being contract farmed.
