Nether Linksness and Wester Linksness Cottages are two well presented stone built cottages constructed around 1999 to the highest conservation standards using traditional building materials currently operating as a popular holiday letting business located in nice grounds overlooking a beautiful sandy beach. Also included is a licensed café which caters for visitors to the island. Both cottages are situated within a group of traditional vernacular stone buildings, and are part of the original croft holding of West Linksness. Care has been taken to use traditional materials and skills in the construction and renovation of the buildings and the cottages received an award from Orkney Heritage Society in memory of the
late Laura Grimond for excellence in design and construction. Both cottages have 2 bedrooms, a bathroom and a kitchen/living room. There is one double bed, 2 single beds and a sofa bed. Each bedroom has a washbasin, and the bathroom has a bath and shower. The kitchen is equipped with cooker, microwave, kettle, toaster, fridge, iron, washing machine and dishwasher. There is electric heating throughout the cottages, storage heaters and panel heaters. There are no steps and the cottage is suitable for disabled persons in assisted wheelchairs. Car access is available to the door and there is plenty of car parking. There is a washing line and indoor pulley for clothes drying, and a large grassed area shared with the adjacent cottage. Further land may be available by separate negotiation.
