Situation: Gillan is a small village on the south bank of Gillan Creek near the entrance to the Helford River and on the southern side of Falmouth Bay. The small coves of Gillan and nearby Flushing are home to just a handful of exclusive homes, many occupied by different generations of the same family on holiday every year. The nearby village of Manaccan, centered around its ancient Norman Church, has a good pub and post office/general stores, while on the south bank of the Helford River, there is a sailing club and pub at Helford village with a passenger ferry across to Helford Passage on the north side of this beautiful river as immortalised by Dephne du Maurier in her novel named after Frenchman's Creek. The historic and ancient market town of Helston offers an extensive range of shopping facilities for day to day needs with the cathedral city of Truro some 28 miles distant. There are rail services at Redruth and Truro on the main Paddington to Penzance line. There are regular flights to London and many other Eurpoen desintations from Newquay airport, about 42 miles away on the north coast of Cornwall, whilst the nearby RNAS Culdrose has facilities for private plans/helicopters by prior arrangment. There is a good links golf course at Mullion, overlooking the western approaches, a sailing school at St. Anthony on the opposite side of Gillan Creek and an abundance of beautiful coastal walks along the southwest coastal footpaths.

Machan is believed to have been built in the early 1930's in the Art Moderne style pioneered by the German Bauhaus movement. The house has been subject to a meticulous and careful restoration and upgrading by the present owners over the last 10 years, faithfully adhering to the original style of architecture and incorporating furniture, bathrooms and fittings associated with that period. High quality joinery is evident throughout the house with great emphasis on polished oak floors and doors, bespoke fitted furniture and superb bathrooms. Semi-cirular bays and a fabulous 180 degree dining room maximise the views over the gardens and sea beyond. Spacious and well proportioned reception rooms all enjoy access to out door terraces providing wonderful space and flow for entertaining.

There is a two bedroom staff facilitiy with independant access within the house.
