From Edinburgh head west on the A89 to the Newbridge roundabout and take the A89 signposted for Broxburn. As you enter Broxburn at the roundabout, just passed the jet petrol station take the first exit to stay on the A89 carry on until the traffic lights and
turn left signposted for Almondell and follow the road into the countryside under the M8 bridge and under the railway bridge and then turn left at the crossroads at the top of the hill. Follow this road for about a mile and turn right, signposted for Illieston
