Severn Bank House came into its own after the 8th Earl of Coventry undertook major refurbishment in the late 18th and early 19th Century. Robert Adam was much involved in the 1780 alterations. It is said that the Queen Mother stayed there during the war. It was finally sold by the Croome Estate in the early 1980's, reputedly as a consequence of a gambling debt
