Old Manor Farm is believed to date from the early 17th century and was originally owned by Sir Dimmock White of Timothy Whites & Taylors. The house is listed Grade II and has a seductive blend of both Georgian elegance and a traditional rustic charm, complete with inglenook style fireplaces and exposed beams more reminiscent of the Elizabethan period. The front of the building has an elegant 4-bay facade with large sash windows and galletted flint work. The rooms in this part of the house are definitely Georgian in character with decorative plasterwork, elegant high ceilings and Adam-style fireplaces. The western part of the building still retains high ceilings and large sash windows but has a more intimate feel, with exposed beams, timbers and inglenook-style fireplaces. Bought by the present owners in 1983, the house at that time had been severely damaged by fire and was the subject of a painstaking programme of renovation, taking 7 years, followed by a further programme of 3 years dedicated to the landscaping of the gardens. The result is a country home of enormous charm and appeal, ideal for the growing family or as a second home for those wishing to escape from the capital at weekends and holidays.
Old Manor Farm lies on the northern edge of this small Downland hamlet situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty surrounded by rich countryside and farmland. Nestling in its' own valley, Clanfield provides both primary and secondary schools, the Rising Sun public house, post office and local shopping facilities. More comprehensive amenities are available in Petersfield, Havant, Emsworth and Chichester. The surrounding area provides a whole host of cultural and recreational amenities. The surrounding countryside of the South Downs provides many opportunities for walking, riding and mountain biking. There are numerous golf courses, polo at Cowdray and horse racing from both Fontwell Park and Goodwood, the latter becoming increasingly well known for the Revival of its' historic Motor Circuit and the Annual Festival of Speed. Historic Portsmouth lies some 16 miles to the south and the waters of the Solent are particularly popular with sailors, with numerous sailing clubs. Despite the idyllic rural surroundings, communications to London are readily to hand with a mainline station to London Waterloo situated in nearby Petersfield, some 6 miles to the north.
