Ham is one of southwest London's most rural areas.  With its unspoiled riverside landscape, grand historic houses and village atmosphere, Ham has a unique character, secluded, natural and pleasing to the eye.

George Wimpey has chosen this very special location for The Denes, a select collection of contemporary apartments and townhouses, where you can enjoy the quiet life only 10 miles from central London and within easy reach of Richmond and Kingston.

The great landowners of centuries ago recognised the appeal of this part of the River Thames.  Alongside its wide loops and reaches, as it flows towards the city, are open vistas and meadows, ideal for an aristocrat's country retreat, and the owners of Hampton Court and Ham House, Marble Hill and Strawberry Hill, knew this would be the perfect spot for their magnificent houses and landscaped parks.

There area is well catered for with dentists and doctor surgeries.

The main hospital is Richmond Royal Hospital.

Richmond Park is London's largest open space, well known for its herds of deer, and it's yours to enjoy just half a mile from The Denes.

Just over the river from Ham are two other Thameside 'villages' with their own distinct character.  Twickenham is of course the heartland of English rugby, but as well as the famous stadium, it has a good range of shops, pubs and restaurants.

Teddington, further downstream, is characterised by working boat yards around Teddington Weir and is also a town centre in its own right.  It also boasts Bushy Park, and adjacent to it, Hampton Court Park and Palace, the grandest of all the riverside palatial properties.

There is a good selection of schools nearby.

Ham is close to Richmond and Kingston, centres for work, shopping and socialising.  Richmond's attractive town centre is a great place to shop, particularly if you're into up market fashion, and it also has a wide range of lively bars, cosy pubs and good restaurants, plus a cinema and theatre.

Kingston upon Thames is now one of the southeast's premier shoppiing destinations, whose amenities include the award winning Bentall Centre.

The town has over four hundred shops, which encompass smaller niche retailers, traditional street markets and branches of John Lewis and Bentalls.

From Ham, the A307 is a direct road link to Richmond and Kingston, and during daylight hours you can drive through Richmond Park to the A3 for London and the M25.

Richmond station has both tube and train services.  By District Line, it's about 30 minutes to Victoria, or you can join the Silverlink Service, which goes around London, finishing in Woolwich.

From Kingston station the journey time to London Waterloo is about 40 minutes.  Alternatively, cross the river by footbridge to Teddington where trains also take around 40 minutes to Waterloo.
