DREAM HOME The beautiful, neo-Georgian-style house, which had been rebuilt from the bricks of an old Victorian property, was exactly as she had pictured it
This eye-catching home is located in the popular village of Wavendon and offers spacious accommodation including four bedrooms, four reception rooms, three en-suites and a striking conservatory. Outside you will find plenty of parking, a large double garage
and a magnificent landscaped garden.
The Story
At the time she did not know they would be relocating for her husband's work but she had a dream in which she saw the most beautiful house.
Sometime later, when they learned of the move and were looking at new homes, she knew as soon as she saw the details of the Walton Road property that this was the place she had envisaged.
My husband jokes that I barely had to look round it because I knew this was the place that we were going to buy, she said. It was a stunning house, with the most beautiful garden on three levels.
She added: Living here has been all we hoped it would be - just brilliant.
A NEW CHAPTER
The couple moved into their home at the beginning of the millennium - and loved the fact it represented a new start for them.
We did make a few changes, she said. We had a cherry floor laid all the way through and we improved the conservatory with Pilkington glass, a ceiling fan and air conditioning.
This room is used greatly and adds to the easy flow through the ground floor of the house.
The kitchen runs into the dining room and that leads into the conservatory, she explained. You can then go out on to the terrace and into the garden. It is great for entertaining.
SUNNY DAYS
The house has evolved over the years they have been here, proving to be versatile as the children have come along.
I used to have a dance room, a yoga room and an art room but this has gradually turned into a family house, where the rooms have had different uses, she said.
In the summer, the conservatory tends to be a children's playroom. In the winter, we put a real Christmas tree in there and so try to keep it relatively cool - this is really nice.
The south-facing, sun-filled drawing room is a welcoming space, with beams across the ceiling and another above the fireplace.
This room is very cosy in the evening, she added.
SPACIOUS HOME
The master bedroom at the Walton Road home is a generous size and features two en-suite bathrooms.
One of the things that amazed us was the enormous corner bath in one of the bathrooms, she explained.
She added: Another great feature upstairs is the landing. This is so big that I have put my grandmother's baby grand up there. The previous owner had a three piece suite on the landing!
EXQUISITE FINISH
The whole house has been beautifully finished, she said, with wonderful attention to detail.
The guy who built it really went for top quality, she said. The lighting, for example, has been very carefully done, with lots of picture and recessed lights everywhere.
She added: We will be very sad to leave this house. I am now just waiting to dream about the next place!
ACCOMMODATION
GROUND FLOOR
This delightful home offers a remarkable Georgian style pillared porch that leads into a warm and welcoming reception hall. The first room to your right is the family room which boasts front and side facing sash windows, a lovely place for relaxed family gatherings.
Moving on, the next room to right is the study which has a window to the side, a great area for those wanting to work from home. There is a cloakroom opposite the utility room, which then gives access to a covered porch guiding out to the garden. The sitting
room is set to the rear of the property with two sets of French double doors flowing out to the terrace and conservatory. You will also find a feature fireplace to the outer wall with a wood lintel above, creating a cosy ambience. At the heart of the home
is the kitchen/dining room which has cream cupboards providing plenty of storage, attractive work surfaces and a central breakfast bar. The dining area offers a double French style door to the conservatory and links the kitchen with the sitting room. Additionally,
the conservatory enjoys Amtico flooring, a side door and French style double doors to the garden.
FIRST FLOOR
A staircase rises to the vast first floor landing, where four bedrooms are waiting to be explored. The two bedrooms to your right are of a similar size, both with built in wardrobes. Across the other side of the landing is bedroom two which has front aspect
views, built in wardrobes and an en-suite with a shower, WC and sink. The next room along is the well finished family bathroom, a haven in which to unwind. Lastly the master bedroom enjoys a bay window overlooking the glorious garden, built in sliding door
wardrobes, a shower room and a bathroom.
SETTING THE SCENE
The walled front garden has a side path to the rear porch, while the garden itself is magnificent with two tiers above the rear terrace and side courtyard. The middle tier has a pebble pathway which leads around a water feature that cascades to a pond. The
pebble path also guides into a gazebo with concentric circular block paving and stone slab seating areas to three aspects. The top tier has two paved garden sections, one with an octagonal stone design and the other offering a leafy space to unwind in complete
privacy.
It is such an interesting garden with lots to see, she said. There is a stream and pond, and we have a pergola with wisteria on it.
We have a double recliner so we can lie out there with the children, and usually find it warm from March right through to October or November. In the winter it looks great with all the snow.
WITHIN EASY REACH
The owners of the Walton Road property love its proximity to shops, schools and central Milton Keynes. Wavendon is a popular village with a fantastic golf course and a well respected pub/restaurant.
Not long after moving in, music and theatre venue The Stables re-opened nearby, allowing them access to great performances.
It is also delightful because there are a lot of old villages around here and we can walk into woodland or down to see the horses and squirrels, yet we also have Kingston shopping centre close by, as well as cinemas, gyms and other leisure facilities.
We have the best of both worlds.
Woburn Sands high street is approximately one mile away, while junction 13 of the M1 is approximately four miles away. Central Milton Keynes is about five miles away.
DIRECTIONS:
Exit at junction 13 of the M1 toward Bedford/A42/Woburn/Ampthill/A50 and at the roundabout take the fourth exit. At the following roundabout take the second exit, then make a slight left toward the A421 and continue straight onto the A421. At the A5130, take
the first exit onto Newport Road then turn right onto Walton Road. The home will be on your left hand side.
