Accommodation
The Barn
Bluebell Barn is a traditional timber framed former threshing barn with some brick and flint additions under a pitched pantile roof. The barn was one of the first to be converted for the TV programme Home Front. Vastly improved and extended by the present owners, the inherent character of the barn’s superb exposed timber framed structure has been kept.
Approach
The barn is approached by a shared farm track that leads off a quiet lane. A five bar gate and gravelled driveway takes you to the front of the barn, passing the two bedroom cottage to your left with the annex to you right.
Kitchen
The kitchen with its handmade, country style, cream fronted floor units, offer vast storage space, while the beamed walls encompassing the room above the solid timber work surfaces add authenticity and warmth. The kitchen houses a Stanley range cooker, ceramic butler sink and island unit, with space for a table and chairs and a window seat completing this space as a fabulous family room.
Ground Floor
The former threshing area is at the hub of this barn and houses a majestic timber staircase which takes your eye from the beamed walls to the impressive exposed vaulted and beamed ceiling. The main barn encompasses a partly tongue and grooved sitting room with the charming bedroom 4 and ensuite beyond. The relaxing garden room, has a wood burning stove and probably offers the best views, is reached by passing through the brick weaved bar. The office is accessed through the dining area, part of the main threshing barn which allows stunning countryside views both to the north and south.
Upstairs
The mezzanine area at the top of the stairs offers a cosy carpeted seating area, again affording superb views of the surrounding landscape and the impressive barn structure. The master bedroom, a truly charming room with a wealth of exposed beams, has its own roll top bath ensuite. The opposite end of the barn offers two quaint bedrooms, one single and one double which share a bathroom. Velux roof lights allow light to flood in where the windows provide views and charm.
Annex
The adjoined annex is accessed via the gravelled driveway. This single storey building houses a large utility area along with living space, incorporating a charming shower room and a romantic country bedroom. Two adjoined offices can be accessed, again via the driveway.
Cottage
This two bedroom cottage exuding tradition and charm comprises of a kitchen/breakfast room, lounge leading to a ground floor bedroom and shower room. Stairs take you to a further bedroom on the first floor. The low ceilings lend to the cosiness while the French doors from the lounge extend the space in summer to provide an outside eating patio.
Exterior
From the gate, a driveway takes you around a lawned area with sheds and greenhouse to further lawns and bbq patio to the rear of the property. The views here are truly breathtaking from the farmland to the grazing sheep. A summerhouse sits in the corner while a unique “ship” tree house, which appeared in a Telegraph newspaper review, perches in a substantial tree overlooking the garden. A peaceful and charming property.
