A wonderful opportunity to purchase a mature broadleaf amenity woodland. Southerly aspect overlooking the Moray Firth, natural regeneration is well established. 18.8 Hectares (46 acres)
The 46 acre woodland is predominantly mature broadleaf, with areas of mature Beech, but also native Wych Elm, Oak, Ash and a number of minor species throughout the wood. Natural regeneration is well established, particularly Beech.
Most of the woodland is scheduled as ASNW (Ancient Semi-Natural Woodland) and is covered by a Tree Preservation Order (TPO) since 1993. There are several points of interest within the wood, including a 'millennium' Standing Stone, and a unique beech tree carved with Native American peace symbols. The woodland has been maintained as a natural habitat by the present owners, and wildlife includes red squirrel, pine marten, pheasants and buzzards. Roe deer can occasionally be seen, as can other unusual protected species. The woodland lends itself primarily to amenity use, with the potential for a small commercial income, and is featured in the forthcoming Woodland Trust 'Scottish Exploring Woodlands Guide.'
