Tredegar is about 35 miles north of Cardiff, 25 miles north-west of Newport, and within walking distance of Brecon Beacons National Park. In the mid 18th century, Tredegar was surrounded by forested hills with a few scattered farmsteads owned by Lord Tredegar. In 1778, Sirhowy Ironworks opened the first coal fired furnace and Tredegar began to develop as an industrial community. In 1858, a clock was erected in the centre of Tredegar in what is now called The Circle. The four faces of the clock are set on top of a cylindrical column 72 feet high so that the chimes can be heard for miles around.
Estate agents in Tredegar represent a good number of two and three-bedroom Victorian and Edwardian terraced cottages and houses, and their modern equivalents. If you are looking for houses for sale in Tredegar that offer four bedrooms, there are a few substantial stone-built terraced houses and a mix of detached contemporary houses often set in secluded locations.
