Property for sale in Roslin

Roslin is a rural village about 7 miles south of Edinburgh and 12 miles from Edinburgh Airport. The name Roslin comes from Celtic for 'ross' i.e. a rocky promontory, and 'lynn', a waterfall. The Roslin Institute brought the village to the public's attention in 1996 when it created Dolly the sheep, the first mammal to be cloned from an adult cell. Roslin Castle was built in the 14th century and although part ruin, an impressive 5-storey section was restored in the early 17th century. In the mid 15th century, the magnificent Rosslyn (Roslin) Chapel was built and is supposedly connected to the Knights Templar, according to Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code. What is fact is that the chapel is one of the finest in the world in terms of architecture and stone carvings.
