Glenrothes is one of a number of post war Scottish new towns, established in 1948 from an amalgamation of small farming communities, and has a population of approximately 39,000. Originally the main industries in Glenrothes were paper-making and coal mining. Today, some of the main employers include Ratheon Systems, Amazon, Bosch Rexroth and Tullis Russell.
