Humbie is a rural East Lothian village lying on Humbie Water, at the foot of the Lammermuir Hills. It is 4 miles east of Pathhead and 11 miles south-west of Haddington on the B6368. Keith Marischal House stands a mile north-west of Humbie and was built in 1589. Humbie’s Parish Church is situated ½ a mile north of the village and was rebuilt in 1800 in a gothic style. South-east of Humbie is the ‘Children's Village’, a series of cottages built in 1905 for disabled children. The village closed in 1999 and an alternative use for the cottages, which are listed for their special architectural and historical interest, is being considered.
