Property, Houses and Flats for Sale in Dunbar, East Lothian

Dunbar is the easternmost of the burghs of East Lothian and lies on the coast at the mouth of the Firth of Forth. Dunbar is a peaceful resort town with sandstone buildings and broad sandy beaches. The town has a population of approximately 6,500 and is renowned for its high sunshine record, attractive countryside and rugged coastline.

Historically Dunbar’s economy has been based on fishing, agriculture, brewing and lime extraction. These old industries still survive, with the Belhaven Brewery, the Lafarge Cement Company, and Torness Power Station being important local employers. Local estate agents in Dunbar say the town is assuming increasing importance as a dormitory town for Edinburgh, and large-scale private housing developments are taking place on the southern outskirts. Other types of property for sale in Dunbar include Georgian stone built houses, detached executive family villas, purpose built developments of retirement apartments and semi detached bungalows.
