Most of Bewdley lies on the west bank of the River Severn, a few miles from Kidderminster. The main street in Bewdley is called Load Street from the word 'lode' which means ferry. The majority of Bewdley's shops and amenities are in Load Street, and at the top is St Anne's Church, built in the mid 18th century. Beyond the church, High Street, named because of its high position above the river, leads south along a road known as the switchback because of its many undulations. Bewdley's former quayside has rows of Georgian houses which look particularly splendid from Bewdley's 18th century bridge.
Property for sale in Bewdley is a good mix of old and new and includes delightful period terraced cottages, with two or three bedrooms; and a variety of modern bungalows and new-build townhouses. If you are looking for houses for sale offering four or more bedrooms, estate agents in Bewdley also represent some impressive Georgian and Victorian houses, stunning converted farm buildings, and detached period houses and mansions, located in wonderful rural settings.
