On the southern edge of the Cotswolds, Malmesbury is the oldest borough in England, with a charter given by Alfred the Great. The town is famous for its Abbey although only a part of the Abbey remains. It was from the Abbey tower that Eilmer, the monk, donned wings and leapt in 1,000 AD. He "flew" more than 200 metres before breaking his legs on landing and settling down to become a distinguished scholar.

If you are looking for houses for sale in Malmesbury, it is a very pretty, hilly town, with a wonderful mix of old properties and new developments, sensitively designed and built to reflect traditional cottages and houses. As a guide, 17th century terraced cottages, Grade II listed, are from £175,000. Recently constructed, stone built, mews-style houses, offering three bedrooms, are around £250,000 and houses offering four bedrooms, i.e. detached, modern houses and stone-built cottages, are from £300,000. Over £500,000, the houses are truly impressive, often set within large, mature gardens, in rural locations.

If you are looking for flats for sale in Malmesbury they are in wonderful period-house conversions and converted Grade II listed silk mills. For full details of flats and houses for sale, please contact Malmesbury estate agents.
