Liversedge is a small town within a group of villages, lying between Cleckheaton and Heckmondwike and about 9 miles south of Bradford. Liversedge was named after a Norman nobleman, Robert de Liversec, who also gave his name to the local village of Roberttown. By the 15th century, Liversedge was involved in the manufacture of woollen garments, and almost 400 years later it was the centre of the Luddite riots when weavers attacked Rawfold's Mill for developing a new power loom.
