Solihull is a large town of 94,000 people and is located in the West Midlands, 9 miles away from Birmingham. Many people commute to Birmingham for work, though there are plenty of opportunities for work in this lively town. Solihull is noted for its historic architecture which includes examples of timber-framed Tudor style houses and shops. Fortunately, Solihull was largely unscathed from World War II bombings which badly damaged nearby Coventry and Birmingham. Solihull also has access to various higer education establishments: it has 5 universities only a stones throw away, an excellent FE college - Solihull College of Technology - in the town itself, and one of the best 6th form colleges in the UK, Solihull Sixth Form College. Solihull Properties
Solihull properties predominantly include modern housing estates which were developed in the 50s and 70s. One of the earlier large scale developments centred around Beechwood Park Road and Stonor Park Road, and Chelmsley Wood is a large 1960s Council estate which is currently marketed under the name of "North Solihull". In the 1980s decade, the new Monkspath district constructed east of Shirley was the UK's single largest housing development.
