Property for sale in Shipston-on-Stour

Shipston-on-Stour is a rural town in the Stratford-upon-Avon district of the southern part of Warwickshire, with a population of 4,500. It sits on the border of Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire, beside the River Stour, 15 miles from Stratford-upon-Avon. Shipston-on-Stour is in the northern part of the Cotswolds, and is a focal point for the surrounding rural area. It is accessible from the A3400 between Stratford-upon-Avon and Oxford. Shipston-on-Stour was once a common place of rest for stagecoaches, many of which remain on the High Street of the town. It was also once an important sheep-market town, and after the demand for local wool began to decline Shipston thankfully continued to flourish due to the opening of a branch line from the horse-powered tramway, built a decade before to link Stratford with Moreton-in-Marsh. The line became a modern railway in 1889. Shipston-on-Stour is a popular, quintessentially English town, with so much going for it – as such there are always many people looking for property for sale in Shipston-on-Stour.
