Oxted is a village with a population of 11,000, situated in the region of the North Downs, an area of outstanding natural beauty made up of rolling hills, scented meadows and sprawling fields. The Surrey village is one which offers a good quality of life for its inhabitants, with an attractive centre lined with country pubs, The Old Bell, The George Inn, The Crown Inn and The Wheatsheaf, all of which have been there for several hundred years. Oxted School was opened in 1929, and with over 2500 pupils is one of the largest in the country. There are two other schools in Oxted, Downs Way primary and St. Mary's junior school.
