Newmarket is internationally known as the headquarters of horse racing, with the highest number of horses trained anywhere in the UK. There are two famous racecourses, and the town is surrounded by the Heath, on which racehorses are trained daily, and by beautifully maintained thoroughbred breeding studs. The Newmarket estate agents say the property market, commercial and private, continues to soar, boosted by the ever-growing ingress of purchasers from Arab countries, and more recently from Ireland.
