Beccles is on the Suffolk-Norfolk border and has a population of around 14,000. It is a very pretty town with small squares and delightful narrow streets that are rich in period architecture including many fine Georgian buildings. One of Beccles' most prominent features is a 97ft bell tower that stands near but separate from St Michael's parish church. It was in St Michael's in 1749 that Catherine Suckling married the Reverend Edmund Nelson and later gave birth to England's greatest naval commander. In summer, Beccles attracts many visitors who often arrive by boat via the gently flowing River Waveney.

If you are looking for houses for sale in Beccles and only require two or three bedrooms, you have a choice of Victorian terraced cottages, modern terraced houses, detached bungalows, and period and modern detached houses. Estate agents in Beccles also represent family-sized houses with four or five bedrooms and integral garages; gracious Georgian houses often Grade II listed; converted farm buildings in wonderful rural settings; and a few substantial detached houses set within mature gardens.
