Leek is a market town on the River Churnet which was granted its Royal charter in 1214. For hundreds of years Leek has been the centre of local farming and regular cattle markets are still held, although the original cattle market has been replaced with a bus station and shopping centre. Following the industrial revolution, Leek became a major producer of textiles and, today, it is a centre for the manufacture of clothing and for allied trades such as dyeing.
If you are looking for property for sale in Leek and require two or three bedrooms, you have a choice of charming Victorian terraced cottages and houses, modern terraced houses and new-build townhouses; detached houses, both modern and period, and a variety of detached bungalows. Estate agents in Leek also represent family-sized houses with four or five bedrooms and integral garages, and substantial period houses some, of which, are Grade II listed.
Flats for sale in Leek are usually located in modern, purpose-built apartment houses or converted mills. For details of all flats, cottages and houses currently on the market, please contact Leek estate agents.
