Twelve miles west of Oxford and just north of the A40 Cheltenham road, Witney is a market town on the edge of the Cotswolds. A market has been held in Witney since the Middle Ages, and the Buttercross building in Market Square is where people would meet to buy butter and eggs. Other notable buildings in Witney are the Church of St Mary's, built in the 13th century; the Methodist chapel, and Witney Town Hall which dates from the 17th century. To the north of Witney is West End, one of England's best preserved streets. It is a row of early 19th century, three-storey townhouses, with painted facades and front doors opening onto the street.

If you are looking for property for sale in Witney there is a good mix of old and new such as delightful stone-built and brick-built cottages offering two bedrooms, and terraced and semi-detached modern houses offering three. If you require four or more bedrooms, estate agents in Witney represent semi-detached and detached modern houses; new-build townhouses; architect-designed executive-style homes; and a range of stunning period properties, occasionally Grade II listed.

Flats for sale in Witney are situated in converted houses and purpose-built apartment blocks. For details of flats currently available and for all houses and cottages, please contact Witney estate agents.
