Wantage is a small market town in Oxfordshire, just a few miles south west of Oxford. The town has an ancient history and was the birthplace of King Alfred. The famous poet John Betjeman also lived in Wantage. Local residents may be keen to keep Wantage to themselves, but tourism is increasingly important to the area and the town has a fascinating cultural and industrial history. Wantage is also in the heart of an area of high technology, providing good local employment opportunities. By road Wantage is close to junction 14 of the M4 motorway, just 12 miles south of Oxford. Local regular bus services connect Wantage to Oxford, Didcot, Abingdon and Faringdon. Didcot Parkway railway station is only eight miles away with fast trains to London Paddington.
