Eighteen miles west of Oxford and just north of the A40 Cheltenham road, Burford lies on the River Windrush. It is a beautiful Cotswold-town hardly changed since Georgian times when Burford was an important coaching post. Houses in the town centre date from the 15th century such as Tolsey Hall, a Tudor house with an open ground floor that is located on the corner of Sheep Street. It is where wool traders used to meet to do deals and pay their tolls.
If you are looking for property for sale in Burford there is a good mix of old and new stone-built and brick-built cottages offering two bedrooms, and terraced and semi-detached houses offering three. If you require four or more bedrooms, estate agents in Burford offer modern, architect-designed detached houses, built in Cotswold stone that reflect Burford's heritage. But, for homes steeped in history, Burford has wonderful houses and mansions that are often Grade II listed and set in stunning rural or semi-rural locations.
