Worksop is situated at the northern edge of Sherwood Forest and dates from Anglo-Saxon times. The Norman family of Lovetot built the beautiful Augustinian priory in 1103, and Worksop was granted a Royal Charter in 1296. For centuries, Worksop remained a small market town with local industries such as malting, milling and timber. In 1777, the Cheterfield Canal was completed, boosting trade, but it was the arrival of the railway in 1849 which brought wealth to the town. Collieries were established within a few miles of Worksop, and new villages were built to house miners' families. Today, Worksop has thriving businesses in many industries including food and drink, electronics, engineering, product distribution, textiles and clothing.

If you are looking for property for sale in Worksop there are modern terraced and semi-detached houses and cottages, new-build townhouses, detached bungalows, and period and modern detached houses often with integral garages. Estate agents in Worksop also represent substantial family-sized houses with four or five bedrooms, some of which are Grade II listed and set in beautiful rural locations.
