Southwell is best known for its Minster with its distinctive, twin, pyramid-like spires, which are unique in the UK. The church is an outstanding example of Norman architecture in an affluent town of 7,000 residents that is also rich in historic buildings. Southwell lies on the River Greet about 14 miles north-east of Nottingham. Once home to Lord Byron, Southwell has some of England's most impressive 18th century townhouses and cottages and a Methodist Church with the curious feature of an old pedestrian right-of-way running underneath it.
If you are looking for property for sale in Southwell you have a tremendous choice of Grade II listed cottages, post-war terraced and semi-detached houses and cottages; Georgian, Regency and modern townhouses, detached bungalows, and period and modern detached houses often with integral garages. Estate agents in Southwell also represent substantial rural houses including barn conversions, country mansions, and a wide range of large, detached houses.
