Daventry is an attractive market town in Northamptonshire and holds a population of about 23,000 people. Markets are still held on High Street every Tuesday and Friday, though the original site was in the old Market Square. On the first Saturday of each month, a farmers' market is also held on the High Street, where one can find local goods from all the best food and drink producers in Northamptonshire.
Daventry is accessible by the M1 motorway and is also served by the A45 road. There was once a railway station in Daventry, but the nearest railway station today is at Long Buckby, which is about five miles away.
The modern growth of Daventry began in the 1960s as part of a planned expansion of the town. More recently, however, a new wave of development has been proposed which could take the town's population to about 40,000 by 2021.
