Property for sale in Corby
Corby is an industrial town situated in Northamptonshire, England, and holds a population of 48,000 people. Much of the towns development occurred at the turn of the 20th century when owners of an ironstone company decided to build a large integrated ironstone and steel works on the site. The works drew people from all over the country, including many from Scotland and Ireland. At this point, Corby went from being a small village to a fairly large industrial centre. The steel works has dominated the town since 1935.
By 1939, the population of Corby had grown significantly, and it was considered to be an urban district as well as the largest village in the country. The influx of Irish and Scots at the time resulted in the development of an accent which is sometimes called Corbyite - a mixture of Liverpool, Glasgow and Irish accents.
Today, there are massive plans to regenerate the town; these include, for example, a number of residential developments. The population of the town is also expected to double over the next 30 years to well over 100,000. Needless to say, a great many people are already interested in property for sale in Corby.
