In the heart of Ryedale, and on the southern edge of the North Yorkshire Moors, lies Pickering - a small market town full of character and charm. Pickering is reputed to be one of the oldest towns in the area, dating back to 270BC when founded by Peredurus - King of the Brigantes. The skyline of Pickering is dominated by the spire of the Church of St Peter and St Paul of Pickering, which contains some remarkable 15th century murals.
