Great Yarmouth is on the Norfolk coast, due east of Norwich. It is situated on a thin spit of land sandwiched between the North Sea and the River Yare and has been a seaside resort since 1760. Within the Great Yarmouth area, there are 21 local villages and over 15 miles of sandy beaches, backed by the beautiful Norfolk Broads with traditional windmills and slow-moving waterways.
Great Yarmouth was bombed in World War II, but much is left of the old town, including a 2,000 metre mediaeval wall with 11 towers.
