Downham Market is due south of King's Lynn on the edge of the Fens. It's a small hillside market town dating back to Saxon times, and is one of the oldest in Norfolk. The opening of the railway in 1846 had a far-reaching effect on local trade, but it took until 1992 for the line to be electrified. The current population is 8,000 and hundreds of new houses have been built in recent years.

Houses for sale in Downham Market are a mixture of styles and periods and include two-bedroom bungalows and cottages; Victorian and new-build terraced and semi-detached houses offering three bedrooms; four-bedroom, modern townhouses; detached houses with integral garage, often as part of a new development; and a variety of period properties in rural settings, occasionally Grade II listed.
