Diss lies in the beautiful valley of the River Waveney, around one of the deepest natural lakes in the country. The town has some fine Mediaeval, Georgian and Edwardian buildings, including the 14th century Church of St. Mary and the remarkable 16th century Dolphin House. In 1871, workmen were removing the ground floor bricks of a neighbouring house and discovered an earthen vessel containing three hundred silver coins and two gold nobles. It just goes to prove, there's always been money in property!
