Residents in South Wimbledon enjoy all the amenities of their more affluent neighbours including superb road and rail links.
Living in South Wimbledon
South Wimbledon is a small, residential and commercial area between Wimbledon Broadway and Merton.
Property in South Wimbledon is less expensive than in Wimbledon or Merton Park, and yet South Wimbledon has a lot going for it. Within easy access is a popular market at Merton Abbey Mills and there are major stores between Merton High Street and Merantun Way including a giant hypermarket.
In the opposite direction, also within easy access, are many shops and department stores located in the heart of Wimbledon town, including numerous retail outlets in the stylish Centre Court shopping mall.
Opposite Centre Court is a recently constructed complex incorporating a fitness club and a multi-screen Odeon cinema, restaurants and a major Morrison's supermarket.
Property in South Wimbledon is a mix of three-bedroom Victorian terraced houses and contemporary blocks of low rise flats, most of which are just a few minutes' walk from South Wimbledon tube station.
Transport
South Wimbledon tube station is the penultimate station at the southern end of the Northern line. Neighbouring tube stations are Morden and Colliers Wood. South Wimbledon is also served by several frequent bus routes.
Wimbledon tube and train station lies adjacent to Centre Court shopping mall and is the terminus for the District line. The mainline station is utilised by South West Trains and there is a frequent service to Clapham Junction and London Waterloo, and to Surbiton, Kingston-upon-Thames and the south west.
A tram service operates between Wimbledon station and New Addington via Wimbledon Chase and West and East Croydon railway stations.
