Once inhabited by "Gentry and Persons of Quality", Parsons Green has always been upmarket.

Living in Parsons Green

Parsons Green is one of the most attractive areas of Fulham, lying on New King's Road midway between the junction with Wandsworth Bridge Road and Putney Bridge station.

The heart of Parsons Green is its triangular green where Fulham Football Club once played and is now famous for its gastro pub, The White Horse, which overlooks the delightful green with its many mature trees.

On all three sides of the green are numerous streets lined with Victorian and Edwardian terraced houses, some of which offer six bedrooms although the larger houses have often been converted into flats.

Shopping is a delight in Parsons Green as there are plenty of boutiques, galleries and antique shops. It is also perfect for relaxing in one of the delis, cafés, pubs or superb local restaurants.

For moviegoers, there's a multi-screen cinema in neighbouring Fulham Broadway and a short walk on is Chelsea's football ground at Stamford Bridge.

Parsons Green has several schools including Al-Muntada Islamic Primary School, Peterborough Primary School and Kensington Preparatory School for Girls aged 4-11.

Lady Margaret's is a voluntary aided secondary school for girls and is so popular there are more than 10 applications for every place.

Transport

Parsons Green tube station is on the Wimbledon branch of the District Line, with Fulham Broadway to the east and Putney Bridge station to the west.

History and culture

Parsons Green (it should have an apostrophe but rarely does these days) was once called 'Parsonage Green' after the parson's house on the west side of the green.

A short walk from Parsons Green is Putney Bridge, which is the starting point for the University Boat Race, contested annually between Oxford and Cambridge since 1845.

The Royal Court Theatre is on the south side of Sloane Square, a 15-minute bus ride down King's Road. It is a beautiful theatre renowned for the quality and innovation of its productions and its wine bar that is literally under the square.
