Ripe for the picking with its quality housing, green parks and transport links, Plumstead has much to recommend it.
Living in Plumstead
Former home of Arsenal Football Club, Plumstead has excellent road and rail links and attractive affordable housing. To the north is the new town of Thamesmead West which lies on the south bank of the River Thames, and to the west is Woolwich.
Marking Plumstead's southern border is Shrewsbury Park which leads to Shooters Hill Golf Course with its fabulous views over London, Kent and Essex.
Within Plumstead there are several green open spaces including Plumstead Gardens to the east, ideal for families and children; and to the south, Rockliffe Gardens with its beautiful water feature.
Property in Plumstead, which is in the London Borough of Greenwich, ranges from Victorian cottages with two bedrooms; to stunning Victorian villas with large reception rooms, four good-sized bedrooms and attractive gardens.
In between, there is a mix of modern developments and pre-war and post-war houses and flat conversions, often located near parks, gardens or Plumstead Common.
For those striving to get on the first rung of the property ladder there are flats that were once council property, conveniently located near Plumstead railway station.
Plumstead has a fair selection of primary schools and, at secondary level, Plumstead Manor Girls School has an excellent academic record.
Public parks, local schools and shops, Plumstead is on the way up and once the Docklands Light Railway link across the Thames is in place, Plumstead's transformation is bound to accelerate.

History and culture
In the 1880s, 'two-up two-down' houses were built in Plumstead for workers at Woolwich Arsenal with larger, smarter properties constructed up the hill around Plumstead Common.
Arsenal Football Club, known at that time as 'Royal Arsenal' or 'Woolwich Arsenal', played in Plumstead between 1886 and 1913 at various grounds including Manor Ground on the north side of Plumstead High Street. Just before the Great War, the club moved to Highbury in north London.
