Fly over Totteridge courtesy of Google Earth and you’ll see why it’s so popular with the rich and famous.
Living in Totteridge
The term 'village' is often overused but Totteridge is the real Mccoy down to the village green, medieval buildings and a thousand-year-old yew in the churchyard.
Totteridge lies within the fringes of the Hertfordshire countryside and offers varied and quality flats and houses. There are old and new-build properties that are close to the ancient village, including grand mansions that come with wonderful rural views.
Towards Whetstone south of the A5109 Totteridge Lane there is a large grid of Drives and Crescents lined with 1930s semis and apartment houses. Property prices here are more modest than the heart of Totteridge and more akin to Whetstone.
Totteridge has many active associations including a horticultural society, a cricket club, a tennis club, a floral arts club and a branch of the Women’s Institute.
Many of the groups make good use of the Village Hall with its up-to-date facilities including stage, dressing rooms and noise limiter which turns off the power if the sound goes over pre-arranged levels!
Totteridge is rich in natural open spaces; there is the old village green itself, and Totteridge Fields, Totteridge Common, and Darland Lake Nature Reserve.
Totteridge shares with Whetstone two full-sized golf courses: South Herts Golf Course to the north of Totteridge Lane and North Middlesex Golf Course east of Whetstone High Road.
Neighbouring Whetstone is also the place people go for more serious shopping, GP and Dental surgeries, and a choice of dining from around the globe.

History and culture
The name Totteridge derives from ‘Tatta's Ridge’ and it is assumed that Tatta was a notable Anglo-Saxon warrior. The ridge is the high ground between the valleys of Dollis Brook and Folly Brook.
Today, Totteridge is home to some of the most expensive houses in London and past and present residents include Arsene Wenger, Frankie Vaughan, Des O'Connor, Cliff Richard and many top footballers.
