Property for sale in Haringey
In ancient times, what we now know as "Haringey" was made up of two large manors, Hornsey and Tottenham. In the Middle Ages, Tottenham's population consisted of 59 serfs, four slaves, two freemen and a priest. Many streets in Haringey bear the names of aristocrats from centuries long gone. Other local names, such as Wood Green, testify to the areas past as woodland and countryside, some of which still survives in Haringey's parks. The Borough of Haringey was formed in 1965 from three former municipal boroughs and includes the following postal districts: N4, N6, N8, N10, N11, N15, N17, and N22. Its worth noting that Harringay is an area within Haringey but the spelling difference is significant. Both names come from a Saxon Chief called Haering.
The Borough of Haringey encompasses the following areas: Bounds Green, Crouch End, Finsbury Park, Harringay, Highgate, Hornsey, Manor House (also part of Hackney borough) Muswell Hill, Noel Park, Seven Sisters, South Tottenham, Stroud Green, Tottenham, Tottenham Green, Tottenham Hale, Turnpike Lane, and Wood Green. Property for sale in Haringey includes substantial Victorian houses with five or six bedrooms, typical Victorian and Edwardian three-bedroom terraced houses, 1930s between wars development, often unattractive post-war reconstruction and rapid 1960s expansion, and attractive new build, including substantial properties. Three-bedroom houses in the district of Harringay, in a popular street, would have an asking price of £400,000. New homes in Haringey such as a spacious one bedroom top floor conversion located on what estate agents in Haringey refer to as the Harringay Ladder, with easy access to both Crouch End and Turnpike Lane, would cost in the region of £180,000.
