Living in Crouch End
Trendy and friendly, Crouch End lies in a green and pleasant valley comprising woodlands, parks and playing fields situated between Highgate Hill to the south-west, and Muswell Hill and Alexandra Park to the north-east.
Crouch End is in the London Borough of Haringey and local housing is a mix of Victorian and Edwardian detached and semi-detached villas and townhouses, complemented by new build houses and flats.
Park Road and The Broadway are the main shopping streets in Crouch End where you will find many shops and restaurants, including butchers, greengrocers, fishmongers, delis and gastro pubs.
For a wider selection of shops and stores there is Wood Green Shopping Centre, which includes a cinema complex and a health club.
Open green spaces are a key feature of living in Crouch End, which is bounded on the west by Highgate Woods and Queen's Wood, to the north by Alexandra Park, and to the south by Hampstead Heath and Finsbury Park.
Highgate and Queen's woods provide a haven for butterflies and wildlife and for people who enjoy walking. Within the woods is a café and a supervised children's playground.
'The Parkland Walk' is a richly wooded cutting for a former railway line that connects Finsbury Park to Alexandra Park via Stroud Green, Crouch End, Highgate and Muswell Hill. Its low incline makes it an easy walk or bicycle ride along an otherwise hilly part of London.
Crouch End has some good local schools and a couple of hospitals.
Transport
The nearest tube station to Crouch End is in neighbouring Highgate which is on the High Barnet branch of the Northern Line and connects to Euston, Charing Cross and Waterloo mainline stations.
Crouch Hill railway station is on the London Overground between Gospel Oak and Barking.
To the east of Crouch End are Hornsey and Harringay railway stations, which are served by First Capital Connect and provide direct links to Kings Cross and Moorgate.
