Kensington is a dream address, sought after for its tree-lined streets, wonderful shops, excellent public transport and great parks and gardens.
Living in Kensington
Kensington lies to the north and south of one of the finest shopping streets in London - Kensington High Street, relished for the quality of its shops.
Marking Kensington's north-eastern border is Kensington Church Street, which is peppered with charming independent shops selling art and antiques as it weaves its way to Notting Hill Gate.
East of Kensington Church Street is a small and exquisite residential area that includes Vicarage Gate and Palace Gardens Terrace, reflecting its big neighbour, Kensington Palace, once home to Princess Diana.
Kensington Palace Gardens and Palace Green is one long road running by the Palace and is known as 'Billionaires' Row'. Prickling with security, there is a mix of privately owned houses and mansion flats, ambassadorial residences and grand embassies.
Between Notting Hill Gate and Kensington High Street, to the east of Holland Park, there is a great mix of quality period housing including tiny, delightful cottages, commanding white stucco terraced townhouses, substantial mansion flats and a few developments built in the early to mid 20th century.
South of the busy thoroughfare of Kensington High Street are quiet and verdant residential streets lined with blossoming fruit trees and beautiful, white stucco villas.
In Kensington Square, a few minutes' walk from High Street Kensington tube station, there are magnificent mansion blocks of apartments built for the courtiers who worked at Kensington Palace.
Whether walking in Kensington Gardens or Holland Park, shopping, dining or seeing a movie, Kensington offers perfect London living.
Transport
The Circle and District lines run through High Street Kensington tube station, providing a direct link to Earls Court and to mainline railway stations in Paddington, Euston, Kings Cross, Liverpool Street, Charing Cross and Victoria.
Buses in the area are plentiful and there are good road links to West London and Heathrow Airport.

History and culture
Named after Cynesige, a Saxon nobleman, Kensington grew around the ancient parish church of St. Mary Abbots near the junction of Kensington High Street and Kensington Church Street.
East of Kensington towards Knightsbridge is the Royal Albert Hall, the UK's most important cultural venue, famous for hosting the Promenade Concerts.
For information regarding current and forthcoming concerts please visit http://tickets.royalalberthall.com/season/performances.aspx
North of Albert Hall are the delightful Kensington Gardens and the great swathe of Hyde Park. Due south of the hall are some of the world's most celebrated institutions, including the Royal College of Music, the Royal College of Art and Imperial College London.
