Fitzrovia - a thriving urban village in the heart of London's west end.
Living in Fitzrovia
Fitzrovia is the rectangle enclosed by Euston Road to the north, Oxford Street to the south, Great Portland Street to the West and Tottenham Court Road to the East.
This once forgotten void in the city centre is now praised for its vibrant bar and café culture, making it a place to work, live and be seen.
The area is packed with interesting properties. Modernised blocks house studio and one bedroom flats. Old style and increasingly scarce mansion blocks are being converted to meet the high demand for small compact flats.
One development that is set to boost the supply of property in the area is the interior of the old Middlesex Hospital, a £1 billion luxury scheme, will house 273 apartments and is to be known as Noho Square.
Fitzrovia appeals to the European market and your neighbours are just as likely to be young families, the wealthy or young single professionals.
There has been an increasing demand for property in the area, particularly from people who have been priced out of the neighbouring areas of Marylebone and Belgravia.
Transport
Tube stations serving the area include: Tottenham Court Road - Central/Northern line, Goodge Street - Northern line, Warren Street - Northern line, Oxford Circus - Central/Bakerloo/Victoria line, Great Portland Street - Hammersmith and City/ Metropolitan/Circle line.
Euston, King's Cross and St Pancras mainline stations are all close by.
International travel couldn't be easier for local residents, with Eurostar now based at St Pancras Station.
Additionally the area has a good supply of bus routes, including night buses. For a full list of bus routes visit: www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl/gettingaround/maps/buses/
History and culture
Fitzrovia is a quirky London village with a bohemian flavour and history - William Blake lived in the grandeuse Fitzroy Square and the area has long attracted artists and writers.
